Academy Rules & Etiquette

.Always bow when entering and leaving the mat and immediately greet the Instructor with a handshake when entering the mat for the first time.

.If you are late to class, wait outside the mat until the professor/instructor gives you permission to enter.

.When the Instructor calls for line up, do so quickly and quietly.

.Ask permission to leave the mat space during class, unless in an emergency situation. A drink of water is not considered an emergency.

.You must always wear a non-wicking shirt or rash guard inside your gi.

.Everyone here is family, be careful and use control with your training partner. Follow rules of good sportsmanship before, during and after each activity. If you cannot comply with this rule, you will not participate.

.NO foul language will be tolerated.

.Treat everyone with respect, and the same will be done to you.

.No food, drink, chewing gum, or electronic devices on the mats.

.Help keep our bathrooms and locker rooms clean at all times. All clothes, shoes, gym bags, etc. must be placed in changing rooms, cubbies or lockers.

.Pick up after yourself. Please make sure you take your belongings from the locker rooms and cubbies. If you bring it in, bring it out (water bottles, shoes, towels, mouth guards, etc…).

.ALWAYS use footwear when going off the mats [outside or to the bathroom].

.ALWAYS Wash your hands after using the bathroom.

.Training in Jiu-Jitsu involves close personal contact. Please be sure your GI, Shorts, Rash Guard, & Training Gear are clean, free of foul odors for every class. Be aware of your personal hygiene. Make sure that your fingernails & toenails are properly trimmed, and your hair (if long) is pulled back & secured. Remove any watches, rings, or jewelry before training. If you have any type of skin infection (staph, ringworm, etc.) you will not be allowed to train until it is cleared up. These bacterial & fungal infections are highly contagious and can quickly spread throughout the entire class. If you suspect you may have an infectious skin condition or are not sure, ask your doctor.

.Absolutely no coaching or teaching your children or other children during class. Please do so after class has ended to avoid any interruptions.

.Check your attitude when you walk through the door. This is the wrong place for people with bad intentions.

.There is no supervision provided for children. If you bring them, they must remain in the kids’ room or be directly attended, not playing around the gym. The toys are to remain in the kids’ room at all times as well. Control your kids when they are not in class. Kid’s noise can interrupt classes, taking the attention of students and instructors. Please pick up after your children before you leave.

.Remember to always be humble both in victory and defeat.

.If you (the student) or your child is sick, please stay home and rest. Training can wait until you’re healthy.

.We are committed to providing a drug-free, healthy environment. There is no smoking permitted in any part of the facility.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR ASSISTANCE.
